1. Registration for the FSE
- Registration exclusively electronically via KOS, see the instructions here
- Deadline for individual study programmes, except those listed below: by 13 February 2026
- Only a student who is enrolled in the course Bachelor’s/Master’s Thesis may register.
Procedure for registration in KOS:
- Open the tab “State Exams” → “Final State Exams”
- In the drop-down menu, choose your Topics of Final State examination (if the study programme allows selection – otherwise only one option is available in each row)!
- Select the SFE date and confirm by clicking “Sign up” at the right end of the respective row.
2. Rescheduling of the FSE Date
- Possible only based on the Application for Rescheduling the FSE including a statement by the thesis supervisor (if the request concerns the final thesis) and the head of the department guaranteeing the study programme, with specification of a serious reason.
- Submission to the Department of Study Affairs: no later than 1 month before the thesis submission deadline (i.e. by 13 April 2026 by the end of office hours, exceptionally later).
3. Conditions for Admission to the FSE
- Successful completion of all compulsory courses and the required number of elective courses from a compulsory group of courses.
- Required number of credits:
- 180 credits during studies, including the bachelor’s thesis, and completion of the internship in the bachelor study programme Biomedical Technology (ABMT)
- 120 credits during studies, including the master’s thesis, and completion of the internship in the follow-up master study programme Biomedical Engineering
4. Closure of the Study Plan in KOS
- Condition for SFE: completion of all study requirements for the FSE and closure of the study plan in KOS
- Deadlines for closure:
- Bachelor’s and follow-up master’s programmes → by 4 June 2026
- For FSE held in September (applies to all study programmes) → by 26 August 2026
Procedure for closing in KOS:
- Open the tab “Courses” → “Study Plan” → status of study plan – fulfilled – CLOSE
5. Deadlines for Submission of the Final Thesis (Bachelor’s/Master’s Thesis)
- Regular deadline: 13 May 2026 by midnight electronically in PROJECTS and KOS, printed thesis on the day of the FSE.
- Resit deadline: 12 August 2026 by midnight electronically in PROJECTS and KOS, printed thesis on the day of the FSE.
6. Dates of the FSE by Study Programmes
- The student is invited to the FSE for a specific date (date, room, and time) via the website (at the bottom of this page: Student Assignment to Committees) and KOS no later than 10 days before the FSE.
- No later than 5 working days before the FSE date, the supervisor’s and external reviewer’s reviews are published in the PROJECTS database.
- For all students, zthe June FSE date is binding.
- The September date is designated as the resit date (based on the FSE committee’s recommendation, the resit date may be in June of the following academic year), and in particularly serious cases as an alternative date (especially for health reasons or for students with recognized parental time at CTU during maternity leave).
- The standard alternative date if the FSE is held in September: June of the following academic year.

7. Course of the FSE
- Students shall arrive in formal attire to the examination room.
- Verification of student identity: valid ID card, passport, driver’s licence, student card.
- Bachelor’s studies: oral defence of bachelor’s thesis + oral examination from Examination topics.
- Follow-up master’s studies: oral defence of master’s thesis + oral examination from Examination topics.
- Examination topics for the oral FSE are published no later than the end of teaching in the winter semester preceding the FSE (the Examination topics are published at the bottom of this page).
- The student shall submit the printed version of the final thesis to the FSE committee secretary: 1 copy, double-sided, spiral binding (the printed version must be an exact copy of the electronic version). After the defence, the printed copy is returned to the student.
- Parts of the FSE:
- Presentation and oral defence of the final thesis
- Oral examination in the prescribed Examination topics – the areas for individual study programmes are published at the bottom of the page, including the student assignment to FSE committees – no later than 10 days before the FSE.
- After the examination, the committee announces the results, and the student signs the report on the course of the FSE.
8. After the FSE
- Settle all obligations with the library.
- Ceremonial graduation: 13–16 October 2026 (schedule for specific days approx. in September; formal attire required).
- Absence at the graduation ceremony must be reported no later than 1 week before the ceremony to braundan@fbmi.cvut.cz
