STUDY AT FBME IS INSPIRING EVEN FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

The number of international students at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering is increasing year by year. More and more students from abroad are choosing to study here in English, whether as part of the Erasmus program or as part of a full study program focused on biomedical engineering.

We asked several students of the Biomedical Technology study program how they like it here.

ALEJANDRA GARCIA (Ecuador) – 1st year of the English programImage removed.

  • How did you find Czech Technical University? I found it on my own, by doing research on the internet.
  • How do you like the courses? What I enjoy the most is the variety of courses since they cover many areas making the program really interesting.
  • Why did you choose your study field? I chose this field because I’ve always wanted to help people, but in a way that works quietly in the background. It feels meaningful to know that in the future, the technology I could help develop may improve someone’s life even if I’m not directly by their side.
  • What are your work/professional plans for the future? I would like to continue with the Master’s in Biomedical Engineering at CTU and find the path that fits my interests.

GEORGII KAPORIN (Ukraine) – 1st year of the English programImage removed.

  • How did you find Czech Technical University? I was searching for this specific program on the internet, when I found that Czech Technical University provides one, and I liked this option most.
  • How do you like the courses? I like the courses, and I feel that I am making a progress in my studies. Teachers are all nice and always willing to help if you need it.
  • Why did you choose your study field? I like technology and I have some experience with programming. I am also interested in Biology, so I chose the field of Biomedical Technology as an intersection of both.
  • What are your work/professional plans for future?  I don't have specific work plans for the future, but I am planning to continue my studies on Biomedical Engineering Masters program at CTU and apply for some internships in the following years.

JULIAN TESCH (Austria) – ErasmusImage removed.

  • How did you find Czech Technical University? I found CTU using an online tool provided by our university that lists all partner universities.
  • How do you like CTU and the courses? It's a great university and I've been given lots of opportunities. It's really great that all the courses are offered in English, not many universities do that, and I'm convinced that this semester will be very beneficial for me in the future. Like everywhere, there are courses you can identify with. Overall, the courses made me like my field of study even more and I think that’s what matters the most.
  • Why did you choose your study field? When my grandmother was in the hospital, because she needed a pacemaker, she met a biomedical technician. When I talked to her afterwards, she said I must become one of them, so I looked it up and it was the perfect fit for me.  I was always very interested in many things, and this study combines so much, so I could not think of anything better.
  • What are your work/professional plans for future? It still seems far away, but for now I would see myself in working in a hospital or at least working for a company that makes equipment for a hospital. That’s still vague, but I try to keep an open mind.
